Catskill Mountain Foundation

The Catskill Mountain Foundation is a multi-arts organization presenting year-round classical and contemporary music concerts, dance performances, family programs, and movies.

Find us at these locations on the Greene County Mountaintop:

  • The Orpheum Performing Arts Center – Located in Tannersville, the 247 seat Orpheum, designed by theater architect Hugh Hardy and has performances throughout the year. Presentations include ballet, modern, post-modern dance, chamber music, folk, pop and world music, theater, and youth performance programs.
  • The Doctorow Center for the Arts – Located in Hunter, the Center is a multi-arts complex housing the Mountain Cinema, a three-screen movie theater which shows family-oriented, independent, foreign and blockbuster films and a 150-seat performance space for intimate music and theater performances. The Doctorow Center also houses the Piano Performance Museum, home to the unique Steven E Greenstein collection of historic pianos from the 18th to the 20th centuries, many of which are playable.
  • The Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts – Located in Maplecrest in the Town of Windham, Sugar Maples offers studio art workshops in the summer months in ceramics, jewelry, painting, and weaving. The Art Explorers youth program offers six, one-week sessions during July and August for ages 5-14 allowing children to explore their creativity through arts & crafts, scrapbooking, theater, drawing & sketching, and cartooning. The campus is also home to the Foundation’s Natural Agriculture Farm, which grows a variety of vegetables that are available for sale throughout the summer.
  • The Kaaterskill Fine Arts Gallery is open year-round and has over 800 square feet of light-filled exhibition space. The gallery supports local and regional artists, featuring their works in solo and thematically grouped shows with new exhibitions opening every six weeks. Adjacent to the gallery, the 800 square foot Village Square Bookstore and crafts marketplace stocks a selection of 3,000 titles, including contemporary poetry, art, fiction, local geography, sustainability, and children’s books as well as handcrafted items from artisans in our region and around the world.  A great resource for distinct exhibitions and unique gifts for children and adults.
